Position Overview

The Neighbor Defense Campaign Organizer plays a critical role in advancing ACE’s Arizona We Deserve agenda by helping build a strong, organized, and responsive community base across Maricopa County. This position supports both a community care and campaign goal, focused on deep organizing and long-term power building.

 

This role strengthens internal systems, builds relationships at the community and school level, and ensures community-reported information is documented, verified, and shared in ways that prioritize member safety and trust.

 

The Neighbor Defense Campaign Organizer will work closely with members, volunteers, and partners to expand statewide capacity, respond to urgent situations, and grow a sustainable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

 

Community Information & Safety Coordination

  • Work alongside the manager to coordinate internal systems to collect, verify, organize, and document community reported enforcement activity.

  • Monitor existing communication channels (e.g., WhatsApp groups, member reports, coalition chats) to ensure information is accurately logged and responsibly shared.

  • Serve as an aftercare support for affected communities including house meetings, know your rights workshops, and more

  • Lead the assessment of urgency and escalate concerns according to established protocols.

 

Community Organizing & Campaign Development

  • Build and maintain a strong base of engaged members across key regions in Arizona through consistent outreach, relationship building, and follow up.

  • Implement organizing strategies to recruit, retain, and activate members.

  • Identify, train, and support member leaders to take on roles in rapid response and campaign efforts.

  • Coordinate on the ground organizing activities, including community meetings, canvassing, school outreach, and local events.

  • Support campaign efforts tied to the Arizona We Deserve by mobilizing members or actions, events, and advocacy opportunities.

  • Coalition & Partner Engagement

  • Lead the preparation of meeting materials, participate in discussions, and manage follow-up action items.

  • Represent member priorities and bring back actionable opportunities for member engagement.

  • Maintain strong, values-aligned relationships with trusted partner organizations.

 

Systems & Protocol Development

  • Develop, maintain, and refine internal protocols related to information flow, documentation, verification, and escalation.

  • Ensure consistent use of systems that support data integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility.

  • Collaborate with leadership to adapt protocols as community needs and conditions evolve.

  • Develop and deliver both virtual and in-person curriculum and training for members and volunteer groups across the state.

 

Data Tracking & Learning

  • Track trends, patterns, and recurring safety issues in community-reported information.

  • Support internal learning by sharing insights that inform program improvement, community education, and future advocacy strategies.

  • Assist in preparing internal summaries or reports as needed.

 

Internal Collaboration & Member Support

  • Collaborate closely with program, communications, and leadership teams to ensure alignment and consistent messaging.

  • Support member leaders and volunteers by providing guidance, tools, and training related to community preparedness and safety.

  • Center community care, dignity, and respect in all interactions.

 

Ethics & Care

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and responsible data practices at all times.

  • Apply culturally responsive, and community-centered approaches to all work.

  • Uphold ACE values of accountability, integrity, and collective well-being.

 

Goals of the Role

  • Build a strong, engaged, and growing base of members across Arizona.

  • Ensure members are informed, supported, and cared for through timely and accurate information sharing.

  • Develop member leadership and strengthen community-led organizing infrastructure. Including but not limited to having 1:1, hosting house meetings, community calls, etc.

  • Align rapid response efforts with long-term campaign strategies for Arizona We Deserve.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience working in community-based, nonprofit, advocacy, or organizing settings.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with urgency, especially in time-sensitive situations.

  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Comfort working across multiple communication platforms and tracking systems.

  • Commitment to culturally sensitive, equity-centered, and community-led practices.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.

  • Reliable transportation required; this role involves regular travel within the community and occasionally out of the state.
